Dr. Lei Zhang was appointed as Chief Investment Officer at Yanzhou Coal Mining Ltd (SSE: 600188, HKeX: 1171) and CEO at Yancoal International Holding in March 2020 and appointed as CEO of Yankuang OzStar in Mar 2018. Lei is a Master-Degree Mentor at Beijing National Accounting University. Prior to his current role, from March 2014 to March 2020 he was CFO at Yancoal Australia (ASX: YAL, HK: 3668) responsible for finance, commercial and M&A including acquisition of Rio Tinto C&A Australia and HKIPO. From February 2013 to March 2014 he was Senior Vice President at SK Great China responsible for PE, Principal Investment and Economic Research Institute. From July 2012 to March 2013 he was General Manager at Shell responsible for M&A, Commercial & Finance. From Sept 2010 to July 2012 he was Managing Director and CFO at Chinalco Mining International (HKeX: 3883), Vice President and CFO at Chinalco Overseas responsible for Chinalco Group M&A and HKIPO. From April 1997 to September 2010 at Siemens he held various senior positions including Vice President of Siemens Ltd. China and Cluster CFO of Siemens Real Estate North East Asia from September 2008 to September 2010, jointly led establishment of 1st foreign finance company – Siemens Financial Services China. Lei also worked at ING and CITIC prior to Siemens. Lei has working experience in China, Australia, Germany and Peru.
Lei has a Doctor Degree of Economics from the Graduate School Chinese Academy Social Science, a MBA Degree from Peking University Guanghua School Management, and a Bachelor Degree of Accounting from Capital University Economics Trade. 1-Year General Management Course at Siemens Leadership Centre Munich. He holds the International Profession Certificate Senior Accountant CPA designation from Institute Chartered Accountants Australia, Dealer Certificate from China Inter-bank Market, China Bond Custody Qualifying Certificate, and Committee Member from 3rd China Central SOE Youth Association. Lei was awarded 2010 Yearly Paper Award from East China Economics; 2017 Yearly CFO Award from Finance Monthly UK; 2019 Yearly CFO Award from CPA Australia. Lei has published a book “Effect, Determinant at China Manufacture Sector FDI” and over 10 papers.
